Incest
It seemed as though Yuka had a crush on her cousin, Kouta, in the beginning of the anime -- and I was reluctant to believe that, as I am American, and that is generally frowned upon here. However, as the series went on, I could no longer push that theory to the back of my mind and ignore it. Need proof? Well, okay. For one, Yuka gets jealous when Kouta is kind to other women. Especially Nyuu. She reacts rather irrationally for a cousin (rationally, if she were to be his girlfriend) when she catches him in awkward positions with Nyuu. (ex: helping Nyuu undress, as Nyuu cannot do it herself. Yes, Yuka walked in on that.) Yuka also asks Kouta a series of odd questions. When Nyuu grabs Kouta's hands and makes him feel her breasts, Yuka sees it. Later, Yuka asks him if Kouta would like to feel -her- breasts. Kouta is flustered and doesn't really answer the question. Even as a child, she loved him. They would see each other every year at a fair, and have lots of fun together. Then, suddenly, Kouta stops going to the fair and seeing Yuka altogether. She gets extremely upset. At their last fair together, she swore that she'd become better than him at cutting out characters (ex: a bunny) from a board, since Kouta kept doing them perfectly, and she kept messing them up. She practices a lot until the next fair; and she is the master of it! However, Kouta didn't go to that fair. Or any of the fairs after that. Even though, at that last fair, he promised he would. She gets even more upset when he doesn't remember any of this as an adult. Anyway. While I, and probably a good amount of Americans, were reluctant to believe it -- the rest of the world had no problem. It turns out that America is the only country that has a problem with cousin-couples, and about half of America has no law against cousins marrying. (cousincouples.com)
